Eugenia jambola related to family Myrtaceae Genus Eugenia, found in most of areas of India upto hight 4000 ft being an evergreen tree (30ft high with 4ft trunk, leaves 3-6 inchs long & 2-3 inchs broad). Flowers are light green to white in color, shape have ovate & shiny in texture. The chemical composition includes 83.7% moisture, protein 0.7%, Fat 0.3%, Carbohydrate 14%, minerals, vitamins A, B, C & melic acid. The main active constituent of bark contains betulenic acid, beta sitosterol, Elagic acid & mirisetin. Fruit has cohesive action because of cool nature, also helpful to skin related ailments & suppresses. Seed of plant are being well utilized in the treatment of diabetes. It also helpful to proper digestion, anti diuretic & reduces sugar level. The paste is applied on wounds, area of burning and also reduces fever. It helps in proper digestion, loss of stools, fever, vomiting.
